Restore Your Tyre Safely and Cost-Effectively

Finding a nail or screw in your tyre tread doesn't automatically mean you need to purchase a brand-new tyre. If the damage is minor, a professional puncture repair is a safe and highly economical alternative. Pit Stop Pros brings on-site puncture repair directly to your home, office, or roadside stop.

We strictly adhere to the safety guidelines set by the British Standard BS AU 159. Our technicians will inspect the internal structure of the tyre by demounting it from the wheel rim before carrying out any repair. If the tyre is safe to repair, we clean, buff, plug, and patch the puncture from the inside, ensuring a permanent airtight seal that lasts for the remaining legal life of the tyre.

Our Puncture Repair Standards

Not all punctures can be repaired safely. To ensure your vehicle remains legal and safe on the road, our inspections verify the following criteria:

  • Puncture diameter is under 6mm
  • Located in the central 60-70% area
  • No sidewall structural damage
  • Tread depth is at or above 1.6mm
  • No previous repairs in the same area
  • Rubber has not aged or dry-rotted

The Puncture Repair Process

01

Demount & Inspect

We jack the car up, remove the wheel, and demount the tyre to inspect the inner lining for structural creasing or carcass damage.

02

Plug & Patch

We drill the puncture channel, clean and buff the inner tube, apply vulcanizing cement, and pull a combination plug-patch through.

03

Mount & Balance

We remount the tyre, balance the wheel on our computerized mobile rig, check the valve for leaks, and bolt it back onto the car.

Understanding Puncture Locations

Tyre repairs are governed by strict regulations to prevent failures at high speeds. Under BS AU 159, the tyre tread is divided into two zones:

1. Minor Repair Area (T-Zone): The central 60% to 70% of the tyre width. Punctures located strictly within this zone can be patched securely.

2. Major Repair Area (Sidewall/Shoulder): The outer shoulders and sidewalls. Punctures in these areas are subject to flex and high structural strain, meaning they cannot be repaired and require a replacement tyre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you repair run-flat tyres?

In most cases, tyre manufacturers advise against repairing run-flat tyres. When a run-flat tyre is driven on without pressure, the reinforced sidewalls bear the vehicle load. This can cause internal structural damage that is not visible from the outside. To maintain safety, we recommend replacing run-flat tyres.

What happens if the puncture is not repairable?

We always load a replacement tyre of the correct size onto our service van before heading to your location. If our technician inspects the tyre and finds it is unsafe to repair (e.g. sidewall damage or tread wear), we can fit the replacement tyre immediately, saving you from a double visit fee.

How long does a puncture repair take?

A professional puncture repair, including wheel removal, tyre demounting, internal inspection, patch vulcanization, re-mounting, and wheel balancing, takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes per wheel.
